A Romantic Ceremony in a Portuguese Royal Palace
Aisling and Dean chose to celebrate their wedding with a small, intimate ceremony at Queluz National Palace, surrounded by their closest family members. The atmosphere was relaxed, emotional, and incredibly meaningful , exactly what many couples envision when planning an intimate wedding in Lisbon or Portugal.
The palace itself adds a sense of timeless elegance to any celebration. Often referred to as the “Portuguese Versailles,” it is one of the finest examples of Rococo architecture in Europe and one of the most beautiful historic wedding locations near Lisbon.
A Little History of Queluz Palace
Construction of the palace began in 1747 as a summer retreat for Prince Pedro of Braganza, who later became King Pedro III of Portugal.
Throughout the late 18th century, the palace became a favourite residence of the Portuguese royal family and hosted grand celebrations, concerts, and royal gatherings in its ornate halls and gardens.
Today, the palace is a national monument and museum, with its spectacular gardens, fountains, and decorated interiors still reflecting the grandeur of Portugal’s royal past.
