Emily & Adrian

Castle Durrow

Scroll

Emily and Adrian had a wonderful Christmas wedding in the unique & beautiful 300 year old Castle Durrow.

They prepared for their day on the castle grounds before traveling to the Church of the Holy Rosary in Abbeyleix for their ceremony. As it was a Winter wedding, Emily & Adrian chose to have an earlier ceremony to ensure we had ample time for photographs in the natural light.

Thankfully the winter light was incredible on their day and we took a walk through the stunning grounds of Castle Durrow for their couple photography.

The cosy interior of Castle Durrow provided a gorgeous backdrop for their celebrations which lasted late into the evening, with emotional speeches, epic dancing and an amazing sparkler tunnel.

Thank you to Emily & Adrian for selecting us as their wedding photographers and to Castle Durrow for their hospitality x

Morning Preparations

Emily prepared for her wedding day in the beautiful bridal suite at Castle Durrow. Every inch of this 300 year old mansion has been individually designed by Shelly and Peter Stokes with family heirlooms and antiques. It provides a luxurious and elegant backdrop for couples who get ready there on the morning of their wedding.

Vows

Emily & Adrian chose to hold their ceremony in the small parish of Abbeyleix in the Church of the most Holy Rosary. This peaceful & calming church framed their vows perfectly and only a short journey from Castle Durrow it was the ideal location for their church wedding.

Couple Session

When it comes to photography sessions, the grounds at Castle Durrow provide constant inspiration. The manicured lawns and old world charm of the architecture work wonderfully together. We spent some time with Emily and Adrian walking through the estate capturing natural and meaningful moments between them.

Reception

During the wedding reception at the castle we captured Emily & Adrians black-tie bridal party, the tastefully decorated dining hall and when the guests were called for dinner we took a few moments with the couple to photograph them on the original cantilevered grand staircase. Illuminating the staircase is a stained glass window circa 1860, it is thought it was erected in celebration of a marriage. The design was inspired by one of William Shakespeare’s best known sonnets, ‘the seven ages of man’. The Flower family motto is inscribed at the bottom righthand side and reads Mens Conscia recti -' A mind aware of its own right'.
